Nacey is like my musical soulmate.  The DC DJ and producer has been making some of the very best music this year – sounds I never knew I needed until he revealed them to the universe.  As a stand-alone producer, he creates some of the chillest, etheral tunes out there, best heard while sippin’ a sweet lemonade in a hammock on a warm summer day.   And even better, as a part of the indie trio, Misun, he contributes his impressive talents to advance the ”aquawave” life.  You know, a life that’s hella worth living.

So on that note, here are his favorite tunes of 2012:

Grimes – “Genesis”
24-year-old girl from Vancouver, who went to school for Neuroscience produced this song AND video. So tight!

Dan Deacon – “True Thrush”
Dan Deacon’s music makes me feel like a kid again.

Kendrick Lamar – “Money Trees”
This album is great the whole way through. The girl who sings on this song 4 minutes in is my favorite part.

Beach House – “New Year”
I remember exactly where I was and who I was with when I first heard this song. Was pretty late in discovering this band, but this one’s permanently etched into my brain.

Major Lazer ft. Amber of Dirty Projectors – “Get Free”
Probably too early to call this ‘song of the decade’ but it very well could be for me.
